My professional experience:
I trained in medicine at King’s College Hospital, London and obtained an intercalated Degree in Psychology (BSc. 2:1) from the University College London. I completed my psychiatric training at the Maudsley; a centre of excellence and one of the most influential mental health establishments in the world. I obtained a Master’s Degree in Addictions (MSc. Merit) from the Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College London, and have trained and worked with the leaders in the field of mental health and addictions. I have been practicing psychiatry since 2000 and work for the NHS and the private sector.
I am recognised by the General Medical Council (4637608) as a Dual Specialist in General Adult and Addiction Psychiatry and by all major Private Medical Insurers. I am able to communicate fluently in Farsi (Persian) and am well placed to address issues in patients from Iran and the Middle East. Also I am an Honorary Senior Lecturer and the addictions teaching lead at St. George’s University of London, and the College Tutor responsible for organising the Academic Programme at Springfield University Hospital.
My personal statement:
Referrals are accepted directly from patients, GPs, other Specialists and Employers. A full diagnostic assessment can be arranged, including for a second opinion, with recommendations and follow-ups as required. I can provide medico-legal reports. I am aware that each patient is an individual and their treatment requires to be bespoke and carefully tailored. I take into consideration psychological and social aspects of each patient, not only focusing on prescribing medications but rather on a holistic multi-disciplinary approach to alleviate mental distress. I have access to a wide range of therapeutic interventions for patients; including psychological, psychotherapeutic, outpatient, day hospital and inpatient. Information disclosed will remain confidential and usually can only be released with the patient’s consent. Appointments for private consultations are available, at short notice, at the Nightingale Hospital.
Additional information about my research, publications and interests:
My research interests are Dual Diagnosis (mental illness co-morbid with addictions) and Telepsychiatry. As a Designated Partner I am developing a Telepsychiatry service, and fully utilise technology in my practice. I supervise Medical Students for essays and BSc. projects. I have published in well-known peer reviewed journals, presented at international conferences and undertaken media work.
