The gym

Exercise is an integral part of overall health. The gymnasium is available for inpatient use, when not participating in group therapy programmes.

A personal trainer employed by the hospital will offer patients an initial assessment, and then tailor an exercise programme for them based on their current fitness level and goals.

Personal trainer sessions are free on Monday and Wednesday, and appointments start from 1 pm each day. All patients must have consent from their consultant psychiatrist before using the gym. For instance, as part of a specialist eating disorder treatment plan, patients may not be permitted to use the exercise facilities.

The pharmacy

We have the convenience of an on-site pharmacy, located on the ground floor of the hospital. Our pharmacy is led by a team of pharmacists who specialise in mental health medication and are able to offer expert advice to both inpatients and outpatients.

We are able to arrange repeat prescriptions of medications, international delivery of medication, and couriers to deliver medication when needed. We pride ourselves on being able to maintain stock of all relevant psychotropic medications including specialist items, to ensure that the needs of the patient are always met.

‘Ask the pharmacist’ is a pharmacist-led discussion group, held on a weekly basis for inpatients, which provides patients with an opportunity to have a discussion about any aspect of their medication.

Our usual opening hours are: Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 6:00 pm

The pharmacy is closed on weekends and bank holidays.

Additional services

If patients feel they would benefit from additional support throughout their inpatient stay, they can, at a supplementary cost, access additional therapies.

These include:

  • Individual therapy (if they wish to have more therapy more than once per week)
  • Specialist therapies (such as trauma therapy or clinical psychologists input)
  • Couples counselling

Additionally, the hospital provides numerous well-being services in-house, which can be accessed at an additional cost:

  • Bodywork therapies such as reflexology, lymphatic drainage massage, deep tissue/remedial massage, facial rejuvenation massage, organic skincare facial, hot stone massage, therapeutic and relaxation massage
  • One-to-one personal training fitness sessions

Well-being therapies are proven to promote relaxation and stress relief, re-connect the mind and body, release muscular tension often associated with stress and anxiety as well as boosting the immune system.
