My professional experience:
I trained as a doctor at Manchester University, and after medical and surgical posts, moved to London in 2000 to work as a Psychiatrist. I have held posts across London in a variety of settings, working with people from all walks of life and of all ages and backgrounds. This includes working in community clinics, general and psychiatric hospitals, with people from all ethnic backgrounds, with homeless people and with immigration and social issues.
I have been a community consultant psychiatrist since 2008, and work within the NHS for Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust. I am the clinical lead for a recovery team helping people with long standing mental health needs, and also for an Early Intervention Service that helps people who have become psychiatrically unwell for the first time.
I greatly enjoy teaching, and have received certificates of excellence from St George’s medical school for the last two years. I also regularly host seminars for GPs and other health professionals on all areas of mental health.
My personal statement:
I use an open minded integrated approach, combining biological, psychological and social therapies to help people resolve their issues and psychiatric illnesses. I have experience in working with people with depression and anxiety, psychotic illnesses, personality issues, adult ADHD, with trauma and with medical legal work. I focus on working with the person rather than the condition, so gaining an understanding of each patient’s needs, and producing a collaborative tailored treatment plan.
I am happy to accept self-referrals, or from GPs, psychologists and other health professionals. I am able to carry out Skype appointments, and I am recognised by all major health insurers. I am also happy to liaise with family members and carers where appropriate, and I am available for telephone or email advice.
I am available in Monday to Thursday evenings from 6pm, and during the day on Fridays.
