My professional qualifications, accreditations and memberships:
- Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrist
- British NeuroPsychiatry Association
My professional experience:
I have been a consultant psychiatrist in private practice in central London for 31 years. I treat a wide range of adult psychiatric disorders in my practice which combines a psychotherapeutic approach with medications where necessary. I have been admitting inpatient care to the Nightingale Hospital since it first opened in 1987. I also visit the London Clinic, Wellington and Cromwell Hospitals regularly for liaison treatment of neurological, surgical and medical patients. I refer to psychotherapists when further specialised therapies are indicated. I am a member of the advisory committees of the Centre For Reproductive & Genetic Health and the Nightingale Hospital.
I received my earlier training in psychiatry at the University of Edinburgh, the Medical Research Council and University College Hospital London.
My personal statement:
I have been driven primarily by personal clinical care that offers me the opportunity to devote myself to patient care with regular and close supportive follow-up as needed. Additional to office consultations, I am usually available to assist my patients by telephone and email.
I keep up to date and informed as per Continuing Professional Development guidelines laid down by the Royal College of Psychiatrists and the General Medical Council, by external conferences and lectures as well as personal study and in-house consultant group support meetings.
I am married and consider myself a family man. Hobbies include music, reading, tennis and cycling
