Housekeeping manager

Nightingale Hospital is the only private mental health hospital in Central London, with over 30 years of experience in delivering specialised, evidence-based treatments in outpatient, day patient and inpatient settings.

The main purpose of the job

The purpose of this role is to lead, manage and supervise the housekeeping team to ensure the hospital achieves the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness across Nightingale Hospital. Often managing multiple requests at once, you’ll be comfortable multitasking and where necessary, work with other teams to ensure tasks are completed.

This role will involve direct interaction with patients, nursing and non-nursing staff.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • To provide a high standard of cleaning within the hospital by maintaining an efficient, cost-effective, clean and hygienic working environment
  • To maintain standards as required in line with the hospital’s policies and procedures
  • To prepare and maintain a 4-week rota, ensuring the housekeeping team is adequately staffed at all times
  • To instruct the housekeeping team in their role and allocate duties as required
  • To adhere to and maintain cleaning schedules for all rooms, patient areas, external areas and any other required assigned duties for the entire hospital


  • Basic level of education
  • Experience in a customer service role
  • Good communication skills – both reading and verbal
  • Basic numerical skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and take direction
  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Ability to prioritise tasks
  • Able to work under pressure
