The main purpose of the job

We have an opportunity for a pharmacy technician to join the hospital’s pharmacy team.

Reporting to the pharmacy manager, your job will primarily consist of processing and filling prescriptions, and providing excellent customer service to the hospital’s outpatients, day patients, and inpatients. 

Main responsibilities include:

  • Receive prescriptions and check their validity
  • Processing prescriptions electronically 
  • Contribute to the smooth running of the pharmacy 
  • Sort, stock, label, and monitor medication inventory 
  • Undertake administrative tasks as requested 
  • Ensuring the pharmacy is clean and presentable at all times 
  • Greeting customers and providing excellent customer service 

Requirements

The following skills and qualifications are essential:

  • A recognised pharmacy technician qualification
  • Maths/English to a GSCE level or equivalent
  • Minimum of two years working within a pharmacy setting and proven experience as pharmacy technician
  • Knowledge of medication and dosage measurement, pharmacy law and medical terminology
  • Experience working with an online prescription system is a plus
  • Strong and confident communication skills
  • Experience in an administrative role
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Excellent IT skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to use initiative and work independently as well as in a team 
  • Good time-keeping skills
  • Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the business
