The main purpose of the job

The clinical administrator is an active member of the team that works in collaboration with our ward managers and other key departments, to provide administrative services and support for the hospital. This is a dynamic role that can see the post-holder involved in various projects across the hospital.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining an effective administration system to meet the needs of the nursing department and clinical services
  • Assisting ward managers and clinical/nursing staff in registering booking staff returns and submissions
  • Maintaining data on nurses to support the managers in maintaining revalidation data
  • Assisting ward managers with the input of data on staffing leave/absences to comply with the hospital’s payroll system
  • Support clinicians in the ordering of various stock 
  • Assist in meeting minute taking as scheduled by ward managers 
  • Support ward inductions of new employees 


The following skills and qualifications are desirable:

  • Basic level of education
  • 2 years secretarial or administration experience
  • Strong organisation and prioritisation skills
  • Strong and confident communication skills (ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, patients and visitors)
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Good IT skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to use initiative and work autonomously
  • Strong typing skills
