Whether it’s fear of what might be around the corner or worry that you’ll make some terrible mistake, the government’s 2013 ONS Wellbeing survey reported one in five of us experience anxiety daily.

Dr Bijal Chheda-Varma, a psychologist and Cognitive Behavioural Therapist at the Nightingale mental health hospital in London, explains: “There are no tigers pursuing us today, but we still have stressors in the form of work, family pressures and money worries, and more modern ones such as social media. And we still have a stress reaction. It’s a primal thing, but it becomes problematic if it is exaggerated or appears out of context.”
