About the Role – Assistant Psychologist
Nightingale Hospital has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Psychologist.
This role is ideal for someone passionate about clinical psychology and mental health care, with a strong interest in developing their clinical skills and contributing to high-quality patient outcomes.
As an Assistant Psychologist, you will support and enhance the professional psychological care of service users by contributing to psychological assessments, delivering 1:1 and/or group-based interventions under the supervision of a qualified psychologist and assisting in clinical administration, audit, and service development.
You will be welcomed into a supportive and multidisciplinary team, working alongside clinical psychologists, therapists and other mental health professionals to provide high-quality, patient-centred care.
Main Responsibilities
- Carrying out psychological assessments and clinical interventions under supervision
- Providing psychological interventions on a 1:1 and/or group basis, and monitoring/reporting on their effectiveness
- Contributing to multidisciplinary team discussions regarding psychological treatment, risk assessment, and care planning
- Maintaining clinical databases and completing outcome measures as required
- Assisting in the preparation of written reports for internal and external audiences
- Undertaking clinically relevant audits and data collection to evaluate and improve service delivery
- Supporting the development and delivery of specialist training and psychoeducational materials
- Contributing to ongoing research, service evaluation, and quality improvement projects
Who We’re Looking For
We are seeking a dedicated, motivated individual with:
- A strong academic background in psychology (minimum 2:1 in a BPS-accredited undergraduate degree)
- Prior experience working in a mental health or clinical setting, ideally in a similar role
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- A good understanding of mental health issues, psychological theories and therapeutic approaches
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- A genuine interest in pursuing a career in clinical psychology
Desirable Qualities
- Experience delivering psychological interventions in a 1:1 or group format
- Previous involvement in audit, research or quality improvement projects
- Understanding of data analysis and outcome measurement tools
- Experience working in inpatient mental health services or within private healthcare
