The DBT Day Therapy Programme is a specialised one-day per week, 20-week programme offered to those experiencing personality and mood disorders, amongst other psychiatric conditions.

It is delivered by specialist DBT therapists as a face-to-face programme at our Bell Street Therapy Centre.

Who is the DBT Programme for?

The DBT Programme is an effective and evidence-based treatment that can support those experiencing:

Programme overview

The DBT-informed day programme offers each patient:

  • A one-day per week programme over the course of 20-weeks
  • Up to three free pre-commitment groups before commencing treatment
  • Four core modules will be taught by trained DBT therapists
    • Mindfulness
    • Distress tolerance
    • Interpersonal effectiveness
    • Emotional regulation
  • Access to a peer-led DBT WhatsApp group
  • Access to crisis coaching each day between 8:00am and 8:00pm with DBT therapists
  • A free one-to-one end of treatment review on Zoom

Programme content

The DBT Day Therapy Programme helps build four main skills: mindfulness, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and emotional regulation.

  1. Mindfulness: Skills that help to ground you by keeping you in the present moment
  2. Distress tolerance: Develop strategies to effectively manage emotional extremes and reduce the intensity of overwhelming emotions
  3. Interpersonal effectiveness: Improve your ability to communicate effectively and implement respectful boundaries for yourself and others
  4. Emotional regulation: Enables you to better understand your emotions and emotional response, identify triggers and develop emotional resiliency

Funding

The programme can be accessed via most private medical insurers or self-funding. Self-funding patients are required to provide a deposit before commencing day treatment.
