The main purpose of the job

We have an opportunity for a trainee finance assistant to join the hospital’s busy finance team.

Reporting to the hospital’s financial controller, this post will provide on-the-job training across a variety of departmental functions including:

  • Accounts payable
  • Accounts receivable
  • General accounting
  • Fixed assets
  • Credit control

Main responsibilities include:

  • Processing client and private medical insurance (PMI) billing
  • Reconciling weekly/monthly billings 
  • Generating reports
  • Producing a monthly dashboard of invoices raised
  • Responding to PMI enquiries on a timely basis

Through this post, you will learn valuable understanding of the essential role a finance team plays in driving decisions across the business


The following skills and qualifications are essential:

  • An AAT Studier
  • 5 GCSE’s including English and maths
  • Experience with an administrative role
  • Experience working within a mental health environment (desirable)
  • Strong and confident communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Excellent IT skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to use initiative and work independently as well as in a team 
  • Good time-keeping skills
  • Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the business
