About the role
Are you a reliable, hardworking individual with a passion for maintaining high standards of cleanliness in a healthcare setting? Nightingale Hospital is looking for a Housekeeping Assistant to help ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our patients, staff, and visitors. You’ll play a key role in infection control, cleanliness, and hygiene throughout the hospital, working closely with both clinical and non-clinical teams.

Requirements
The following skills and qualifications are essential:
- Basic level of education
• Experience in a customer service or housekeeping role
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to prioritise, multitask and work under pressure
• Understanding of infection control, health and safety, and cleanliness standards
• Able to work flexibly, including day, night and weekend shifts
Strongly desirable qualities include:
- GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent)
• NVQ or equivalent qualification in Cleaning or Housekeeping
• Previous experience working in a hospital environment
• Understanding of COSHH and other relevant health and safety legislation
• Experience working in mental health or with vulnerable individuals
Key responsibilities
- Cleaning wards, bathrooms, patient rooms, and public areas in line with hospital schedules and infection control policies
• High and low dusting, mopping, vacuuming, and surface wiping
• Making patient beds and replacing linen as required
• Reporting any maintenance issues or incidents promptly
• Stocking and maintaining housekeeping supplies and equipment
• Supporting emergency cleaning situations (e.g. spills or accidents)
• Working closely with the Nursing, Estates, and Facilities teams to maintain a safe, clean environment
