My professional experience:
I have been working as a therapeutic Counsellor for fourteen years. I have been a team member at Nightingale Hospital London for the past four years. I work with individuals as well as facilitating groups in the Addiction Treatment Programme. I have also worked with individuals and groups in the General Psychiatric and Young Persons programme.
Previously I worked for 8 years as an Addictions Counsellor for `Action on Addiction` with both males and females in therapeutic communities. I have also worked for `Camden and Westminster Bereavement Service` providing bereavement counselling, and for `A Place2Be` which offers play therapy to children in primary schools.
My personal Statement:
My therapeutic approach incorporates person-centered and psycho-dynamic models and frameworks. This allows me to interact with the individual whilst supporting them through issues which are currently affecting them and may be linked to past experiences. The individual or group member to gain self- awareness and a clearer perspective, which enables them to find positive ways to move forward in life. I adapt the therapy to suit the individual’s needs, building a good therapeutic relationship. When working with individuals and groups with addictions, the therapy includes Psycho-educational workshops alongside Motivational enhancement techniques and relapse prevention.
