My professional experience:
I am one of the UK’s most senior and respected medical addictions specialists. Until December 2015, I was Medical Director for one of the largest addictions organisations in the UK and Europe. The medical team I set up 10 years ago were safely treating 50,000 patients across England and Wales. At the moment I am a Medical Director of The OAD Clinic in London and CEO of Seagrave Healthcare Ltd, a private company providing drug treatment interventions and service management in for over 15 years in the UK. I am Honorary professor of the Faculty of Medical and Human Sciences, Institute of Brain Behaviour and Mental Health, at University of Manchester, I am a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. I am author of many papers and books on addictions, and I published widely in the professional medical press. I am a specialist adviser for governments, pharmaceuticals, while also maintaining a high level of clinical interactivity with my patients. I chairs or clinical lead for many of the most important medical and academic addiction conferences both in the UK and abroad.
My personal statement:
I have many years of experience treating patients with mental health and addiction in difficult circumstances. My background as consultant psychiatrists and psychotherapist allows me to make complex psycho-neuropharmacological interventions to stabilize or resolve challenging situations.
Over the years I have been leading teams of doctors, nurses and psychologist working in a variety of treatment settings in America and Europe. The result is a rich clinical experience that allows me to have a problem focus pragmatic approach, applying a variety of pharmacological and psychosocial interventions.
My major areas of expertise include painkiller and opioid dependence, polydrug use, dual diagnosis (intertwined mental health and drug addictions and alcohol addictions), mixed drug and alcohol problems, complex psychiatric conditions in which alcohol and drugs play an important role.
I also have many years of experience managing complex prescriptions including high potency opioid medications, antidepressants and other medicines such as: naltrexone, naltrexone implants, disulfiram (Antabuse), acamprosate, nalmefene (Selincro), and other new drugs.
