My professional experience:
My experience transcends over many cultures and my knowledge base is attributed to this. My most recent post was within a Psychiatric Clinic in the U.A.E where I learnt the finer aspects of Arab culture and remain sensitive to this. I have worked within many contexts including elderly mental ill, adolescents, addictions, eating disorders, military personnel, group therapy, psychiatric hospitals and community day hospitals and inpatients.
My primary role is to conduct Occupational Therapy assessments and subsequently engage in treatment planning and intervention. I have helped many people reach a point where they may utilise all inherent skills and resources to lead full and independent lives, which very much fits into the Occupational Therapy ethos. My approach is of a very practical yet creative nature with an emphasis on collaborative treatment planning ensuring all therapeutic activities are meaningful to the patient.
I have been fortunate enough to work with many age groups, genders and social and economic backgrounds and believe this is what makes me a rounded health-professional. I am passionate about my vocation and understand the essence of human thinking. My main areas of interest include working with women, adolescents and families. My experience includes working with families and training nuclear and extended families in the art of living a harmonious and unified family way of life. I believe strongly in the power of a ‘group’ and its dynamics.
My personal statement:
My specialty lies in psychological and emotional rehabilitation and wellbeing. I believe in a holistic approach and apply this to all of my work whilst including a spiritual element. My vocational skills within physical settings as well as psychological settings give me a robust backbone, to which I can reference and apply to all my intervention.
