Martin Thomas, Managing Director of Florence Nightingale Hospitals Ltd has today announced that he will be stepping into the role of Non-Executive Director after a highly successful 9 years of leading the company. JJ O’Connor is to become Hospital Director in 2017.

Under his guidance, the company has steadily improved the scope and standard of its offering to become a leader in the UK private mental healthcare market. Most notably, Martin has overseen the sale of the company to Groupe Sinoué, an infrastructure investment of circa £6 million over the past 5 years and a move to 100% patient funding through self-pay, insurers and 3rd parties; previously 80% of the hospitals patients were publically funded. In addition, under his leadership the hospital has opened a tailored Young Person’s Unit, launched the UK’s first technology addiction service and opened a new City Therapy Centre which provides outpatient treatment for city workers.

From 1st January 2017, Martin will take on a Non-Executive Director role for the company where he will draw on his extensive experience gained over the past 20 years in both the surgical and mental health markets to focus on the broader development of Groupe Sinoué’s interests in the UK.

JJ O’Connor is promoted to the position of Hospital Director at Nightingale Hospital while also retaining his current position as CQC Registered Manager. JJ, a registered RMN, brings a high level of experience from his work with the hospital and in the healthcare sector more widely. Under his leadership the hospital will continue developing, improving and expanding the high-quality service it provides. Scott Grey, the Commercial Finance Manager is promoted to Deputy Hospital Director, taking overall responsibility for non-clinical services.

With refurbishments recently completed at the Marylebone hospital, these appointments come at an exciting time for hospital, which is now ready to proceed into the next phase of growth in an ever-changing and dynamic healthcare market.
