Nightingale Hospital’s Adolescent Unit

Nightingale Hospital’s Young Persons Unit is committed to positively changing the lives of the young people it treats. To reassure you, you are not alone. The feelings of unhappiness and isolation can end.  We have many years of experience in supporting young people so give us a chance to help you.

If you are a parent of a young person with mental health or emotional problems, we understand the hard decision ahead of you of how best to help your child. We are here to support you through the process.

Inpatient Adolescent Unit

Our adolescent unit is adjacent to the main hospital in Marylebone. We provide inpatient and day services for private patients and admit young people, both male and female, from age 12 to 17 years.

Adolescent Unit Team

Staffed by a full multi-disciplinary clinical team of Child & Adolescent Consultant Psychiatrists, ward doctors, psychologists, family therapists and nurses we deliver evidence based treatments with compassion and respect.

Mental Health Therapy for Adolescent

Inpatient Therapy

The service provides all patients with a structured and comprehensive therapeutic programme. This consists of group, individual and family therapy sessions. The programme includes school work with our full time teacher.

Outpatient Therapy

We also propose psychiatric and therapeutic outpatient services for young people.

  • Eating disorders, including anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorders
  • Depression
  • Suicidal ideation
  • Severe anxiety
  • Trauma
  • Self-harm
  • Personality disorders
  • Psychosis

About the unit

The facilities

All patients have their own individual bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms.  A communal living room with dining and kitchen area, group and individual therapy rooms, computer room and relaxation space provide an environment to aid recovery. The unit also has a classroom and full time teacher to support patients in maintaining school work and college work.
