Professional experience

Dr Amit D. Mistry is a dual consultant specialist in General Adult and Old Age Psychiatry. Dr Mistry holds additional clinical expertise in treating eating disorders and exercise addiction. He is the Responsible Clinician (RC) to a central London specialist inpatient unit and has previously worked as a community consultant for Oxford Health NHS Foundation trust. 

Dr Mistry has been shortlisted for national awards during his University College London (UCL) postgraduate training and has published, peer-reviewed research in international medical journals. In 2021 he published his first book, ‘Case Studies in Sports Psychiatry’ with Cambridge University Press and is a visiting clinical lecturer to Queen Mary’s University London (QMUL).  

Uniquely, Dr Mistry works as a Consultant Sports Psychiatrist to the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to optimise mental wellbeing and treat mental illness within elite sport. He is chair of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (RCPsych) Sport & Exercise Psychiatry Group and has previously worked as mental health advisor to Oxford University Sport 

Personal statement

Dr Mistry is renowned for his attention to detail, collaborative work and ability to consistently deliver patient-centric care. Along with expertise in medication management, he is also a registered CBT-E practitioner and able to offer 1:1 psychological support. 

His leadership experience and insights working within elite sport, allows him to provide treatment plans compatible with patients in high-performance settings.
