Interpersonal therapy (IPT) is a very effective form of treatment for many psychological conditions, including depression and eating disorders. It’s based on the principle that there is a relationship between the way people communicate and interact with others and their mental health.
Our IPT group programme supports patients in managing difficulties such as feeling unsettled or unhappy with relationships at home, work, college, or in their social life, and is also a productive therapy for people who feel bereft due to losing someone or having to make changes in their life. By enabling people to identify with others and share experiences, they can benefit from an understanding of how they are seen, and how they impact on others.
The emphasis on building relationships, communication, and being a valued member of a group, can help patients increase trust and self-confidence and create the basis for a more positive and balanced state of mental health.
