According to traditional Chinese philosophy, our health is dependent on the body’s motivating energy, Qi, moving in a smooth and balanced way through a series of channels beneath the skin. The flow of Qi can be disturbed by many physical, mental and emotional factors such as anxiety, stress, anger, fear, grief, poor nutrition, weather conditions, hereditary factors, infections, poisons (including drug and alcohol) and trauma.
Patients can be seen on an individual or group basis. Group sessions are held weekly and use a protocol of aurical (ear) acupuncture points to enhance the detoxification process and promote drug-free relaxation, aid restful sleep, stabilise moods and minimise any withdrawal symptoms. Individual sessions include a consultation, covering full medical history and examination, in order for us to devise an acupuncture point programme that is tailored specifically to a patient’s needs.
Having undergone acupuncture, patients can expect to feel the immediate benefit of a re-balancing of their natural energy, and often enter into a deep state of relaxation during treatment. The benefits of a holistic, drug-free treatment that deals with the mind, body, spirit and emotions, is unique and can be used to treat specific symptoms and to maintain health in a preventative manner. Many patients find that acupuncture can also lead to increased energy levels, improved appetite and sleep, and an enhanced sense of overall wellbeing.
