Capio Nightingale has an established specialist inpatient Eating Disorders service for young people aged 12-18.
The service accepts girls and boys with a range of eating-related disorders including:
We also accept young people with dual diagnosis of eating disorders - where the eating disorder symptoms may be part of or co-exist with another illness such as depression, drug use, etc.
We offer care and treatment to young people with new onset or longstanding problems, with mild or severe illnesses, and who may have diagnostic issues or complex case profiles.
Our treatments are based on the best contemporary clinical evidence and are put into practice by an experienced, multidisciplinary team. This consists of expert consultant psychiatrists and unit doctors, a dietician, and specialist therapists – including psychologists, cognitive behavioural therapists, family and occupational therapists, and a specialist nursing team.
Our people work hand-in-hand with every patient, helping them to reach their goals while offering intensive psychological and emotional support through group therapy sessions, individual counselling, psychotherapy, individual key worker nursing sessions, dietary supervision, family therapy and a support group for relatives.
We offer a comprehensive programme of activities, including full school curriculum during normal term time and a summer school in the long break. Activities are led by the multidisciplinary staff team with additional input where required from external experts in drama, music and art. The St Marylebone Church of England School provides teachers to work with our patients who are of school age. The school maintains extremely high standards and has been Ofsted rated.
We accept referrals from NHS agencies and professionals including GPs and specialist adolescent services, parents and other statutory sector agencies.
This specialist eating disorders service is aligned closely with both our adult eating disorders service and child and adolescent psychiatry service.
