Raymond gained a Master of Science (MSc) in Addiction Psychology & Counselling from Greenwich University. He also was awarded a Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). He has attended various supplementary courses covering Motivational Interviewing, Brief Solution Based Therapy and Relapse Prevention Programmes.
His therapeutic approach is integrative, combining Motivational Interviewing, CBT and Reality Therapy within the Minnesota Model. He specialises in addiction treatment for clients and their families. He has worked extensively with drug & alcohol addictions as well as allied conditions such as depression, anxiety and motivational problems. Recently he was appointed as Addictions Programme Coordinator for Capio NHS and Private Chemical Dependency Units as well as for the Capio Gambling Addiction unit. He has gained experience in the treatment of gambling addiction and has given talks on the subject. In 2006 he took a 6 month sabbatical working in 2 addiction treatment centres in California facilitating groups and individual sessions and conducting weekly lectures on various aspects of addiction. He also visited various American treatment centres to study methods of approach. As well as facilitating groups, Raymond sees individual clients and family members affected by chemical addiction or pathological gambling.
