Dr Richard Graham

Biography

After training in adult psychiatry at the Royal Free Hospital, Dr Graham specialised in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Tavistock Clinic. After working for 6 years as a Consultant in Hertfordshire, he returned to the Adolescent Department of the Tavistock Clinic, where he is now the Clinical Director. Over the past decade he was also Lead Consultant in the Adolescent Unit at The Priory Hospital North London, which he established in 1997, leaving in April 2009 to develop new services in the promising environment of Capio Nightingale.

Dr Graham has become known in recent years for work on body image disorders, and more recently, those suffering from Internet, Games, and other Technology Addictions and is the lead consultant for Capio's Young Person Technology Addiction Service launched in March 2010.

He sees these difficulties as products of our current culture, and uses his Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy training in addition to his wide Psychiatric experience, to develop new ways to help those suffering from the problems of today. Following experience at the Tavistock Clinic, Dr Graham also works with those who are finding life as young adults more difficult than expected, offering a developmental perspective to complement the psychiatric view.
