Biography

Dr. Paddy Power is a general adult psychiatrist with a special interest in anxiety, depression, bipolar and  psychotic disorders. He graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1981, initially training in paediatrics and then psychiatry in Dublin before moving to Melbourne Australia where he became a Fellow of the RANZCP in 1992. In 1993, he joined the Early Psychosis Prevention & Intervention Centre (EPPIC) in Melbourne and became its Deputy Medical Director in 1998. He pursued an academic career as Lecturer at Monash University and completed a Doctorate in Medicine at the University of Melbourne in 1999.

In 2000, Dr. Power moved to London as lead consultant of an early intervention/psychosis service (the LEO service) in Lambeth. He is a honorary senior lecturer at the Institute of Psychiatry and his research includes the epidemiology of psychosis, medication & CBT trials, suicide prevention strategies, cannabis & psychosis, and health service evaluations of early intervention servces. He is chair of the London Early Intervention Research Network and co-hosted the 5th IEPA conference in 2006. Currently, he is completing additional training in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.

Dr. Power has run a part-time private practice for 15 years, initially at the Albert Road Clinic in Melbourne and then at  Capio Nightingale Hospital in Marylebone, London.
