Dr Beckett is a specialist in General Adult Psychiatry, and gained admission to the Specialist Registrar in 2005, since which time he has been employed as a Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry in a substantive capacity at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. More recently he has set up a private practice and has a consulting room at Edward House, Capio Nightingale Hospital, where he sees out-patients on a regular basis on Monday evening and Thursdays all day.
Dr Beckett's particular areas of interest and specialism include managing patients with Bipolar Disorder, Depression, Anxiety Disorders and Psychosis. He has developed expertise in the use of psychopharmacology to treat these conditions. Moreover, he has training and qualifications in the use of CBT in the treatment of depression and anxiety, as well as psychotic disorders. Dr Beckett is in the process of obtaining a diploma in Human Givens Psychotherapy and Counselling which is a fast growing approach to the treatment of a whole range of mental health problems.
He also has a special interest in the area of Alcohol and Drug Addiction and has recently completed his advanced qualification in the use of Motivational Interviewing in the treatment of Addictions.
