Biography

Dr Punukollu completed his psychiatric training at Chelsea and Westminster, Charing Cross and Hammersmith Hospitals NHS Trust. Through training in busy central London hospitals he gained clinical experience in treating a wide range of psychiatric disorders including: bipolar affective disorder, schizophrenia, depression, anxiety, OCD, sleep disorders and adult ADHD. He has experience in the treatment of addiction to drugs, alcohol, sex, gambling, online gaming, compulsive overspending and compulsive overeating. Dr Punukollu has completed training at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) through a research grant.  He is a member of the field trials research group for the American DSM 5, which when published will be the most up to date manual in the world for diagnosing mental disorders. He is a General Medical Council Examiner and sees doctors referred under the GMC’s fitness to practice procedures.

In addition to his private work at the Capio Nightingale Hospital, Dr Punukollu works as a Consultant in Addiction Psychiatry at Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust where he is a clinical teacher for UCL medical students. He previously worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist at South West London and St George’s NHS Trust and as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at St George’s, University of London. Dr Punukollu has held private practices at Harley Street and the Lifeworks Community, a residential rehabilitation centre where he was lead consultant.

He has expertise in the management of a wide range of psychiatric conditions and has an interest in complex disorders - clients presenting with multiple diagnoses e.g. ADHD, depression and alcohol use.
